The Drunkard and His Dog
New Orleans Painting #2(circa 2011)
Acrylic on canvas - 20" x 20"
$1,100 - SOLD
I met this guy outside a country club party I was at. He had wondered onto the porch off the street, drunk off his ass, accompanied by 2 dachshund puppies. Apparently he had been drinking all day, parked his van somewhere in the neighborhood and came back to consciousness lost and not knowing where his van was. These 2 dogs were pretty inseparable from the old man and the site of him with them circling round his heels was somewhat surreal.
Whereas temperatures at night here 2 weeks ago were in the 30's, now they're in the 60's and it's getting humid. Carnival season is gearing up toward Mardi Gras. First parade (Krewe du Vieux) happened last weekend. It rolled across Frenchman street as I worked the door at D.B.A. Nothing like being the guardian at the gate as hundreds of drunk college kids clamor to be let in to drink more. Alas, I sympathize with their cause.
As crazy as that was, it was a small test run as I will be working the door on Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras.... I keep being warned bout the madness.
