New Orleans Painting 1February 2011
Acrylic on canvas - 24" x 18"
Diary Entry: Been unseasonably cold/rainy in New Orleans. We've been hanging in the house a lot so I decided to do an interior of the kitchen area at Mike's. We're living in what once was a bar thats been gutted out. Cool spot but there's no heat....thank god for space heaters. Had no idea it got this cold in NOLA. (still nothing compared to the NY winter we've had)
Food has been incredible, and I even found a place in the French Quarter that actually makes a good slice of pizza. Relieved to say the least.
Not sure what my next subject will be. Been seeing lot's of great music so maybe that. Walter "Wolfman" Washington at DBA; Country Fried at Le Bon Temps Roule; King James and The Special Men at BJ's (especially great since the singer Jimmy cooks up a pot of red beans and rice every Monday and brings it to the show for the audience...great staple of NOLA cuisine)
Been speaking to lots of artists and musicians...there's a nice vibrant art scene here, especially in the folk art category.
Probably will go see the Soul Rebels at Le Bon Temps tonite. Great local saloon up the block from us, co-owned by Down/Corrosion of Conformity guitarist Pepper Keenan.
